Welcome to One Night Wonder, the ultimate cocktail-sipping, lights-dimming, candle-burning, romantic-or-platonic-feeling, groovy-tunes, sensory-touchy, clay date experience!
This is an intimate one-session workshop for new friends, sexy lovers, or a gang of buddies wanting to get to get to know each other (and clay!) better. We’ll explore working with clay, tips and techniques for various methods of working with clay: pinching, coiling, and slab building.
Each participant will receive half a kilo of clay to create an object of their choice. You can work collaboratively with your buddy or independently.
After the session, your creations will be fired in the kiln and glazed in a clear finish, which means the result will be a beautiful off-white, beige colour with a high-gloss shiny finish that is food-safe, water-tight, and dishwasher safe.
Your pieces will be ready for collection within three weeks of completing the workshop. We’ll send an email out to you as soon as they’re ready. You can either pick it up from pansy (we’d love to see you again!) or have the option for us to post your piece back to you.

By the end of the session we’ll have one mug and one small accessory (your choice of a saucer, tea spoon, teabag holder, or something else!) ready for the first firing.
The second session is focused on glazing and finishing the pieces in preparation for the last firing. We’ll learn about the applications of different kinds of glazes, underglazes, decorating with patterns, illustrations and the firing process.

ceramic memory jar
& kimchi making
We are excited to present this collaboration with our sweet friend Gigi from Damchi, we had so much fun at our last workshops together, we decided to do more! Have a look at our previous session together here!
On the first day, we will paint our own 'Memory jar' with Lina from Pansy. We’ll reflect on our collective food stories, memories from childhood, favourites flavours, and learn ceramic glazing techniques combined with underglaze pencils to adorn your jar.
The following week, we invite you to make and assemble kimchi with Gigi from Damchi. Learn how to preserve and ferment vegetables into spicy, yummy kimchi. At the end of the workshop, everyone will leave with a customised Kimchi jar containing delicious kimchi to endure this cold winter! We’ll enjoy some fresh kimchi with steamy jasmine rice together afterwards!
This workshop is run over two sessions! See the calendar for dates.
Story of a Memory Jar:
Kimchi is traditionally designed to preserve the fresh harvest from late summer / early autumn for winter, providing a staple side dish. Kimchi is a medium that holds the memory of each year's harvest, kept in the kimchi jar and to be remembered during the cold, harsh winter.
While you eat your kimchi, you long for summer and the fresh, warm sunlights.
"When I am making kimchi in Amsterdam, I always think about home, my mum, and her home cooking. Based on that memory, I created my own version of the kimchi recipe, which I will be sharing with you. Every time I open my kimchi jar, I am reminded of home, my mum and my younger self." - Gigi, Damchi
